the yurts
Our Holiday Yurts are hand crafted by Tim Hutton of Yurtworks on Bodmin Moor and built from ash which is sourced from Dartmoor in the heart of Devon. They are of Kyrgyz style and create a beautiful circular space with great atmosphere. Each yurt has a log burner which is placed to the side of the yurt leaving the central area unrestricted. A basket of logs is provided for use on your arrival. During the day the central wheel provides natural light from above and the cream canvas sides create a light and airy feel to the living area. However, the covers heavy weight provides great protection from the elements.
The yurts have futons which provide sleeping facilities at night and cosy seating areas by day. The 20ft diameter yurt will comfortably sleep 6, and the 18ft yurt will comfortably sleep 4 - ideal for a family (a travel cot is available for very little holidaymakers) or a group of friends. The floor has a ground sheet covered with carpet and ethnic rugs. We can offer flexible accomodation for both larger and smaller families and couples seeking a romantic getaway
At night, the yurts are lit by lanterns....... or moonlight....... or the stars !
Cooking and kitchen equipment is provided.
The stove provides heating for a kettle. There are tables inside the yurts for food preparation and washing up, playing games or writing. Wooden shelving and canvas bags are provided for storage.
Outside the yurts there is a barbeque area and wooden seating and a table provided to enjoy al-fresco dining and the complete outdoor experience.
Water is provided for cooking and there is a coolbox in the yurt. Ice packs are available from the farm. Composting of organic waste is actively encouraged - it all goes to help our garden! Re-cycling is mandatory as we are a green holiday destination.
Toilet facilities are provided in a further tent.
