The Yard is a wonderful open-plan studio suite. Located on the ground floor, this light and airy space features rustic stone walls, exposed beams, skylight windows and a calming natural colour palette to echo its surroundings. We offer dog-friendly holidays and welcome your well-behaved dog to The Yard.
About The Yard
Large glazed doors provide breathtaking sunrise views over Dartmoor National Park, and our free-standing French bateau bath will soothe your muscles after a long day of hiking, swimming, or simply escaping the hustle and bustle. Stunning views from our ultra-comfy king-sized oak bed mean that you don’t even need to get out of bed to take in the scenery!
The Yard is complete with a separate loo and sink, as well as a kitchenette with all you need to prepare a lovely meal with some local produce from the nearby farm shop. The space has a dining area and a comfy sofa and is dog-friendly. A travel cot and high chair can be provided on request, making this the perfect little retreat for couples, pup-parents or young families.
Situated around an old, partially enclosed courtyard, this space gives access to outdoor seating and a BBQ. It also serves as a sun trap in the summer months!
Once a week, we have a pizza night with delicious pizzas cooked in the log-fired pizza oven in the courtyard.
Next door to The Yard you will find the Shower Barn: our separate shared shower, laundry facilities and changing table, along with a large fridge freezer, all of which can be used by guests in our other rooms and yurts.
Guests quite often book The Yard alongside our other barn The Granary and our yurts as an additional option to accommodate their extended family and friends.

Booking, facilities and pricing details

- Baby cot is available at £10 per stay, high chair and changing table available free of charge
- Private outdoor seating areas for our Borough Barn guests, complete with a fire pit and use of a BBQ facility
- Book sole use of a private log-fired hot tub, available outside peak season
- Access to the barrel sauna, which can be booked for a private sauna session
- 10% reduction for single occupancy, Sunday to Thursday
- The Yard check-in is between 4.30 pm and 7 pm and check-out is by 10 am.
