About Devon Yurt
Our award-winning Devon Yurt is located at Borough Farm, which is situated in a stunningly beautiful area between the Tamar valley – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to our South and Dartmoor National Park to our North – in the South West of England. We are on the Devon side of the Tamar valley, but being just a few minutes from Cornwall makes us easily accessible to beauty spots in both counties. In recognition of our high standards and sustainability, we have been awarded Gold from both Visit Devon and Green Tourism, as well as being finalists for the South West England Tourism Excellence Awards.
About Us
Welcome to Devon Yurt. Our families have farmed in Devon for many centuries. We have been farming at Borough Farm since 2002, during which we have restored the farmhouse and barns, vegetable gardens, free of pesticides and nitrogen-based fertiliser, and ponds, planted trees and stocked the fields with our much-loved rare breed Devon and Cornwall Longwool sheep, Connemara ponies and free-range chickens.

How it all began
During the Summer of 2006, the concept of hosting yurting holidays here at Borough was formed. Our first yurt, Great Links, was handcrafted locally over the winter months by artisan yurt craftsman Tim Hutton, using quality coppiced ash from Dartmoor. We took delivery of the wonderful yurt in the spring of 2007.
Our second season brought us fabulous guests, and although tempted to expand numbers further, we have decided to restrict our site to one yurt to protect the seclusion and privacy our guests treasured rather than have numerous yurts piled into a field.
Our Yurt
For those with little people on board, we added shared use of a shower house which offers a beautiful wet room style shower overlooking the moors, the building uses many reclaimed materials, including an exquisite vintage flushing loo, a Belfast sink and old slate flagstones. This recycling complements the green framework, which outlines how we run our business. There are laundry and drying facilities, a fridge-freezer, a warm washing-up area and a changing table, as well as power sockets for recharging phones.
Our Guests
We are now in our second decade of hosting holidays here at Borough Farm, and we have gained fabulous reviews from our guests, which have led us to win numerous prestigious awards. We are confident that we have perfected the art of yurt camping. We have listened carefully to our guests and have celebrated what they have liked about our holidays and changed and grown according to their suggestions. We have organically grown into the site we have today through this labour of love and dedication to our business.
We understand the importance of comfort on your holiday, so our yurt has full-sized beds, heated by a log burner, and a fire ready laid for your first night. For your safety, the yurt has a fire alarm, fire guard, fire extinguisher and a carbon monoxide alarm. The yurt is aesthetically pleasing with close attention paid to the smallest of details, not only in the look, but in the green, natural concept which began our venture many seasons ago. Guests are free to pick flowers all season long, from daffodils through to sweet peas and dahlias!
Over the past few years, we have converted more barns to add to our holiday options for our guests here at Borough Farm. We have The Yard, The Granary, The Shippon and The Dairy, each sleeping two guests, with the yard barn also being dog friendly. Our barns have shared access to both our panoramic barrel sauna and our log-fired, fresh water hot tub, both of which can be booked for a private session. Borough Farm is available for exclusive use group bookings with accommodation which sleeps up to 10 adults and 2 children, plus 2 dogs. Guests will also have use of two log-fired hot tubs, the barrel sauna and both the loft and the courtyard and garden areas for relaxation and spa facilities
