Julia Martin holding Silver Tourism Award

Borough Farm has been given a Green Tourism Silver Award for both our Yurt and The Granary Bed and Breakfast accommodation.  This award is very dear to us as the whole ethos of the holidays we offer here at Borough Farm is about being sustainable,  re connecting our guests to the great outdoors and on a larger scale, doing our bit towards looking after our planet.  We have been farming in a nature friendly way,  ie. no pesticides or nitrogen based fertiliser since we moved here in 2004.  In our first years we set about making wild areas and forming ponds,  planting numerous trees and looking after our wonderful hedges and stone banks so that wildlife would enjoy this haven as much as we humans do.

Our yurts and B and B were constructed using as many reusable materials as possible with minimal impact on the land.  We source our food and drink locally,  with as much coming from our farm as possible to reduce food miles.  We aim to have a low carbon impact by using solar energy,  low energy lighting and harvested rain water and when it comes to cleaning materials of course these are eco friendly too.

All this and more, allows our guests to have a luxurious holiday knowing that we have thought about every single element of that experience in order to make their holiday as green as possible – we call that a win – win !

We look forward to working further on our green award,  right now we are planting wild flower borders to hedgerow areas in both Great Links and Little Links.
